I've just turned thirty, not fifty. Shame the junk mail senders don't know that...

How green and white and golden in the summer light.
Their lakes, their leaping wells are bright
With flower, leaf and rain.
And their profounder rivers run from rocks
That are the altars of the sun.
How calm, how constant are the hills.
Our time's dark gale of ice and fire
Thunders around them but removes them never.
No tempest overthrows their strong humility
They are both god and temple
And their stones are holy, the earth's enduring thrones.
How calm, how constant are the hills.

where we live
Overheard on the train on Thursday evening:
"Bedford? That's in Lincolnshire, isn't it? Yes, I'm sure it is. Lincolnshire... yes, definitely Lincolnshire"
The temptation to turn round and say "actually, it's in Bedfordshire" was very strong - you'll be pleased to hear I restrained myself...

My life as a book
I've just carried out the 'which book are you' quiz and this is the result:
Hmmm. Interestingly, I did study this book at school so I know it quite well. I'm a bit worried about the 'wierd guy in the neighbourhood' though! And since when have I been known as a revolutionary?
You're To Kill a Mockingbird!
by Harper Lee
Perceived as a revolutionary and groundbreaking person, you have
changed the minds of many people. While questioning the authority around you, you've
also taken a significant amount of flack. But you've had the admirable guts to
persevere. There's a weird guy in the neighborhood using dubious means to protect you,
but you're pretty sure it's worth it in the end. In the end, it remains unclear to you
whether finches and mockingbirds get along in real life.
Take the Book Quiz
at the Blue Pyramid.
